Update & More Hospital Pics

Mommy Update: I'm hanging in there, and am extremely excited that I can see and feel the bones in my feet again! I officially fit in my first non-maternity pajamas today. I know they're still pajamas, but I bought them special to wear after pregnancy and couldn't fit in them when I bought them, so I'll take it!
There's definitely no way to be completely prepared for the trauma of giving birth. I thought I was as prepared as I could be and had read everything and then some, but now I know that giving birth is kind of like joining a secretive club. Everyone talks about how wonderful it is, but no one (even the books) discusses the horrible hazing process once you get to join! I am hanging in there, but it's definitely one rough road.

Baby Update: Jayden is the most darling, cuddly baby ever. He loves to snuggle, and is a fabulous sleeper. He likes to have his legs and body swaddled, but he has to have his arms free. He usually sleeps with his arms in front of his face, and also sometimes has one arm up by his forehead or above his head. We just love to watch him sleep...

Here is a slide show of some more hospital pics!

These last two are so cute they deserve their own place in my post. Here is my little guy all ready for his first ride in the car! I love how he is holding on, he looks all ready to go!
Brian and Paul were messing around importing my dad's new videocamera into iMovie and iPhoto, and they cropped and created this picture. The two loves of my life! Brian has been a real trooper, and is being very supportive during this crazy time. I love him more and more every day, and am grateful that he is so helpful, and wants to be there every step of the way. To say he's an awesome daddy is a huge understatement!

Baby Arrival

Well, Baby Turner finally arrived!
Here is the early labor picture...One last look at my swollen foot...
After 30 hours of labor and over two hours of pushing, my Dr. saved the day by suctioning my darling baby out!

Jayden Brig Turner was born at 1:02 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2009. He is 7 lbs 9 oz, and is 19.25 inches long. He has the most adorable strawberry blonde fuzzy hair, and is extremely snuggly.
He is such a darling! I still can't believe that he was inside of me-sometimes I still instinctively put my hand on my stomach where he would always kick and stretch out, only to remember he's not in there anymore! We are so grateful and lucky to have a healthy, adorable little guy! We love you Jayden!

p.s. FYI, we are going private very soon so if you haven't given me your email address, please make sure to give it to me so you can continue to see pictures of our new family! Thanks for all your love and support!

Baby Update as of 11:45 am Tuesday 7/21

Well, we are still at the hospital, but no baby yet! ;( When I came in last night I was 75% effaced but only dilated to a 1. Ugh. So instead of starting me on Pitocin, they gave me a 12 hour suppository to help the cervix continue to contract and dilate a little bit more first. So, last night and this morning have not been nearly as eventful as I had hoped...

This morning, they took the suppository out, and now I am a three. Yay! They have to let my body labor on its own for a few hours before deciding what to do next. I guess the options are another suppository, I labor on my own, or they further things along with Pitocin. Since last night the contractions have been getting stronger and closer together (about every 1-3 minutes), but it will still be a long day! Hope to be able to post better news soon!

Baby Updates/Private

So, tonight's the night! I go in at 7 pm, so it will probably be sometime tomorrow morning before he's actually born. We will be sending updates throughout the night and when he's born, so when you wake up in the morning, hopefully we will have some good news! I can't wait to actually start calling him by his real name instead of Jr!

p.s. Like so many other people, we are also going to switch our blog to private. So, make sure you send me your email so I can add you to our list!

Thanks and wish me luck tonight!

Hannah Pool Time

Here are some pics of Hannah when she was here playing in the pool. She loved being the center of attention, and really loved it when Brian and his two brothers created an obstacle course for all of them to do. She later told my parents that her favorite part of the trip was swimming in the pool, and jumping off the rock wall both while the waterfall was going and without it. She also loved the hot tub, as it is the perfect depth for her. She didn't forget to practice her putting! Watch out Papa!

She is a fantastic snorkeler. Another game she and Brian liked to play was throwing the underwater torpedo to each other and then diving for it.

Here she is relaxing on the blow up chair Paul got me for my birthday. You can see Kevin and Paul wrestling in the background.

We can't wait for my parents & Hannah to come back this weekend, and the rest of the Widner family to come next week! You'd better come ready to party!

More Shower Pics & Gifts

Here are some more pictures of some of the gifts we got at the baby shower!

Dr Update & Nursery Pics

Update from my Dr. appt today!

I haven't dilated any more than I was when he first started checking (I'm still a 1), and he said it looks like Jr. is pretty content in there and doesn't appear to be making any kind of movement soon. He suggested riding any of the rides at the Stratosphere to help induce labor. Tempting...

Even though I've continued taking it easy since the Dr. took me off bedrest, my feet have been swollen since Sunday evening. On Monday my feet were the most swollen they have been since I was put on bedrest, and my legs and knees were a little swollen as well. I've been checking multiple times a day, and my blood pressure has been fine, but I was a little worried about my swelling. The swelling went down as I slept Monday night, but by 10 am this morning my feet were swollen again.

The doctor asked how I've been feeling, checked my feet, and debated for a little bit before saying that unless Jr. makes a movement this week (and it doesn't look like he will), we need to decide on a deadline.

SO...drumroll please...unless Jr. decides otherwise, I will be induced Monday at 7 pm, which means that unless I have the fastest induced labor and delivery ever, he will be born sometime Tuesday, July 21st! I am so excited! So come Monday and Tuesday, everyone remember to say a prayer for us!

We finished organizing the "nursery" a few days ago, which for now is the retreat area of our bedroom. We've had to be creative with the use of the 3 bedrooms since Brian works from home, his sister lives with us, and his brother also lives with us until he leaves for his mission on August 26th. So, here's the nursery! Thanks Paul for your help!
Yes, I still have the diaper cake my mom made for the shower on display. I can't bear to take it apart, and since the diapers are a size 2, I'm in no rush to take it apart just yet.

I know I still need to post more pictures of the gifts I got at the shower, but one thing at a time. I can't sit at the computer for too long, but I still need to take pictures of everything. Keep checking, I'll get them posted soon.

Baby Shower Pics!

A wonderful sister (Heather) from my ward threw me a fabulous baby shower on Saturday! We had a great brunch, visited with each other, played a few games, and opened gifts. My mom and my niece Hannah were both able to fly in for the weekend, and my cousin Stephanie drove from San Diego as a surprise! It was a great day, and here are some pictures!

I love my Uncle Brian!

Hot Rod Hannah and her Uncle Brian!

(Don't worry Jill & Nate, we took excellent care of her!)

In this video, Brian let Hannah start the motorcycle, and then coasted down the street and let Hannah rev the engine. What a little daredevil!

Dr update

Well, after two reschedulings I finally made it in to see my doctor yesterday! He said he's delivered 5 babies in the last 24 or so hours! The first time I showed up for my appt and the receptionist said the Dr. had just left for an emergency c-section, and the next time, I got weighed, had my blood pressure checked and was sitting in the room in my gown, only to find out that while he was in the room next door to mine, he got a call that another patient had just shown up at the hospital fully dilated and ready to push. It was a little frustrating, but at least I know that when it's my turn he'll be there!

Anyway, I was finally able to see the Dr. yesterday, and everything went very well. I am still not diagnosed with preeclampsia, and I am not technically on bedrest anymore. He said as long as I can keep my blood pressure down, he will let my pregnancy progress normally. My friend Heather from the ward let me borrow her blood pressure cuff, so the Dr. said to check my bp regularly, but as long as my diastolic pressure stays below the upper 80's or 90's, then there's no cause for worry. It was only in the upper 80's once, and has been in the 70's since then.

My Dr. said that about 60% of pregnancies experience excessive swelling, and 5% of those pregnancies turn into preeclampsia. So, we are still watching for signs as a precaution, but everything looks good to go! The baby is in position and my cervix has softened, so we'll see next week if there's any more progress! Brian's mom flies in tonight and will stay for the summer, and with the holiday this weekend and the baby shower next weekend, I'm hoping the last few weeks will pass quickly!

P.S. We do have names narrowed down, but are waiting to see Jr. before officially announcing anything, so (sorry!) you'll just have to be patient!
