I want to be 10...

So, Jayden has been talking for weeks about how he wants to be ten, because one day he wanted to stay home while I went to the grocery store, and I told him he had to be ten to stay home alone.

So on the way home last night, here's how our conversation went.

J:  "Mama, me want to be ten."

Me: "Oh really?  Well, how many more birthdays do you need until you are ten?"

J: Counts on his fingers; shows three fingers, then counts the remaining fingers: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.  7 birthdays and me be ten!"

Me: "What are you going to do when you turn ten?"

J: "Um, me go to to the movies!"

Me: "Oh, what movie are you going to see?'

J: "Team Umizoomi!"

Me: "Oh, that sounds like a lot of fun!  Can I come?"

J: "No, me go all myself!"

My heart broke a little.  My three year old can't wait to grow up!

Preschool

Jayden started preschool today!  A group of friends from church decided to get together and do a preschool for our kiddos.  Jayden is so excited, and feels like such a big boy.

He's been talking for weeks about how he wants to be dropped off at work.  After we went to the dentist we stopped by Daddy's work, and Jayden had to walk in all by himself, and after I was finally allowed to enter he kept telling me to go home and leave him there.

Then one day when we were going to the store he said he wanted to stay home, and Lincoln and I could go.  I told him he had to be ten to stay home (just pulled out a number, don't really know what the law is), so now every day he keeps saying he wants to be ten.

The last few days I've been telling him all about school and how much fun it will be, how he will need to be a good listener, etc, and he told me he didn't want to go to school, he wanted to be dropped off at work.

This morning when he woke up I told him today was the day he gets to go to school and he turned to Daddy and said "Today I go to school, Mommy's going to drop me off!"  I don't know what he was more excited about, going to school to play with his friends, or being dropped off!

Here's to my three year old, ready to move out, skip college, and get a job!

Photos 2012

When Mom and I were in Utah taking Paige to her volleyball camp at the Y, we got the boys' photos taken for Lincoln's 1st birthday and for fun, and they turned out super cute!  I just love my boys, they are so much fun and they were so sweet during these photos!

Birthday Bash 2012

Last night we had a little birthday bash for the boys.  It was a low key water party, but the slip n slide was the highlight of the night, obviously!  The boys were so funny, it was hilarious!

Lincoln would slide down and just wait at the bottom for someone to come pick him up and take him back to the top.  I was surprised how much he loved it.  He wasn't scared at all.  I sure have some daredevils on my hands!

Of course Jayden loved it too, but that was no surprise.  He would stand in the way and try to get hit, silly boy.

I think we found our family's favorite FHE activity!

Relay for Life

We had a blast at the Relay for Life!  It was our first one and we plan to do it every year, it was awesome!  I would recommend anyone and everyone to find one in your area, join a team and give it a try.  I have learned what a viscous disease cancer is and events like this are perfect ways to raise money and support survivors as well as those who have lost loved ones to it.

The theme was Disney, and our team was Mickey & Minnie.  Here are a few pics.  I don't have time to write a long post though.  I will write more about it but I really need to go to bed, so I'll have to save my lengthy post for another day.

We started out "Climbing for a Cure".  The local college opened their rock climbing wall for an hour and a half, so we couldn't pass it up!
Brian took the challenging route and almost got his butt kicked by this green blob.  He persisted and hung in there!  His calf muscles were bulging and flinching though!

Paige and I took a less challenging route and while I'm glad I did it, the cyst in my left wrist immediately started to hurt.  It hasn't bothered me in several years, but it still hurts right now.  I won't be rock climbing any more I guess.

Our booth.  We were team Forever Young!  We sold cupcakes, Prince Charming Ties, Root Beer Cookies, and punch ball balloons.

Lincoln really liked the Mickey bobble heads we used for decorations.

Jayden's anti-picture phase

Brian took the boys home to go to bed, and Mom, Dad, Paige and I stayed all night!  I am pretty proud, even though I went out in the hall and took a 40 minute cat nap.  Next year I will try to find a sitter for Lincoln and bring Jayden's tent so Brian and I can both stay!

Paige advertising/tempting people to eat more cupcakes!

Brian's sister and brother in law and our new nephew/cousin came for the weekend and it was so nice to get to see them and for them to come support us in this event!

My Toy Story boys!

A bunch of guys from Young Mens in my parent's ward came to represent, and it was awesome!  In my longer post I'll tell more about these guys, but they really were truly into it, and we were all truly touched by their spirit and support.  I can't get into it right now or I'll start crying.

Alicia, the very first friend I made when we moved here from Canada in 4th grade stopped by, and we walked and chatted for a bit!  Her grandparents both passed from lung cancer.  She gets brownie points for coming by at 1:30 am after her shift at the hospital!

Me in the Crazy Hat competition

Doing Zumba at 3 am!  Paige was so excited about our matching socks!  Her new pajamas say "Dance until Dawn", which she thought was pretty appropriate!  Super stylin'!

I'll write more at a later time, but our family is now a Forever Young, Forever Relay Family!
