I got Tagged

My friend Keli tagged me to post a picture that shows some kind of hairstyle (I included any kind of fad) growing up. What a fun tag! Here's what I came up with. I had a lot of fun with this, so I posted more than just one, hope you don't mind! I hope everyone does this, b/c it's so much fun to see everyone's pictures!

I picked this one to demonstrate all the various large bows and other miscellaneous items my mom put in my hair as accessories.
This next one was in 9th grade, to show my big bangs. I know it's not the best picture to show them off, but it's the best one I could find. I remember the day I decided to grow them out. We traced our shadow/profiles in art class, and I about died when I saw the outline of my ginormous bangs, probably bigger than my head! I was so embarrassed doing that project and the whole time they were on display, I vowed then and there to grow them out, never to be seen again.

I think this was the first day of fourth grade when we lived in Canada. I remember this was a favorite outfit of mine. Note the leggings, matching shoes, and pony right on the top of my head. Classic!
I just couldn't finish this post without a classic 80's family picture. Why only poke fun of myself when it's so much more fun to include family members? Besides, my parents don't have a blog, so it's my duty to include them, isn't it? (Love ya!)
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my corny growing up photos, and I hope to see yours soon! I know you have them! ;)

Does this count as bedrest?

A sample of my morning routine...Funny Story #1: As I was outside complying with doctor's orders (I know what you're thinking, but hey-my feet are UP!), Brian came out to say hi and see how I was doing. As you can tell from the picture, I was doing quite well, but at this time I was talking to Jill on the phone, so I didn't have my book. I had floated to one edge of the pool, so Brian gave me a little push, then went inside.

So I'm talking to Jill, and then I hear a noise I recognize. I think to myself, "Is that the water pump? The cleaner shouldn't be on now, why is the pump turning on?" Then I hear the flow of water, and I realize what Brian had done. He had pushed me directly under the rock wall you see in the back of that picture, and then turned the waterfall on. I started screaming, and of course then Brian comes outside laughing his head off.

Later he mentioned that he should have pulled out the video camera, and I suggested he do it to Destiny. Ready for his response? He said, "Yeah, but she can move a lot faster than you!" Ouch.Funny Story #2: A while ago, Brian and I were at the bank paying off our student loan-YAY! The teller was asking me the typical pregnancy questions. I told her when I was due, and she said "Oh wow, you look so tiny! I can't believe you're that close, you're barely showing!" I thanked her, and told her I was feeling huge but appreciated the comment. Then I turned more sideways, and she goes "OH, there's the baby! Oh, yup, you're definitely getting close!" It was so funny, her response made me laugh.

Hope my post made you smile!

34/35 weeks...

My 34 week appt was a little stressful. My feet had swollen quite a bit over the weekend, but I thought it was just due to the warmer weather and traditional pregnancy swelling. But, at my appt, my doctor told me I was borderline being diagnosed with preeclampsia (also known as toxemia). My blood pressure has been slowly creeping up, I've been gaining a lot of water weight, and blood has been pooling in my legs and feet.

Apparently, preeclampsia is a pregnancy related medical condition that affects the mother's blood flow, and if left unchecked for too long, can affect my nervous system and liver/kidney functioning. It is most common in first time pregnancies, affects only 5-10% of pregnancies, and although it has different levels of severity, the only cure is to deliver the baby.

So, I am now officially on bedrest. Brian has been very good to me, making sure I always have what I need (my book, phone, drinks, snacks, etc), and I won't complain about being off dinner and dish duty! I just got called to be the Laurel advisor, and although I am bummed about not being able to get as involved as I'd like right now, my #1 priority is the health of baby and me.

Here is a picture of the wonderful bouquet my parents sent me. I just love bright and cheery colored flowers, and it was a nice surprise. Thanks Mom & Dad!

Update: I had another checkup on Friday. Fortunately, my bedrest paid off. My blood pressure was way down, and my feet look better than ever! I almost forgot my feet are supposed to have bones in them!

I am still on bedrest, but I have shown significant improvement, and I'm still not officially diagnosed with it yet. My doctor said that proper bedrest is the only way to prolong a diagnosis that is on the way. So, I am still at risk of being diagnosed, and there is still a chance Jr. might need to be born early, but I am hoping and praying that my body can hang in there for at least another 3 weeks, until he will be considered full-term.

So, that's the latest on the Turner Trio! I'm doing my best to keep busy, and aside from being incredibly uncomfortable 24/7, I am feeling okay. I am especially grateful to have a husband, family, and friends that care so much about us. I know that things will work out and that the Lord is watching over us, but the unknown is always a little scary!

Here are some more comics from my weekly emails!

Awesome Videos

I saw this video on a friend's blog and loved it. It's a little long, but worth it.

After I showed Paul the first video he showed me this next one. I think both are pretty cool!

Diplomas, Frames & a Ward Split

A while ago I had Brian's diploma framed and we hung them both up in the loft. The BYU Provo Bookstore had ones already done that you could choose from, but BYU Hawaii didn't offer anything like that, so I went to Michael's to get Brian's done. I thought it'd be nice to put them on display, and here they are!

As part of our wedding photo package we got this 11x14 photo that I love. I've been waiting to get it framed, and we went to a place in Denver to get it done after we first got married, and I liked the result, but they wanted an insane amount of money for it, so we decided to wait. Then we recently went to Michael's during their 55% off sale, and they wanted like $250 (yes, that was half off!) for a pretty generic looking matte and frame combo that I didn't really like anyway. She kept wanting to put cream and tan mattes, which I didn't like with the black and white picture-it made it look sepia toned even though you knew it was supposed to be black and white.
So, Carrie offered to take it to China to see what she could get done there, and Destiny brought it back with her when she returned last Wednesday. I love the intricate frame, and I am so excited to finally have it framed and on display! Thank you so much Carrie! I know it's difficult picking things out for other people but I really do love it.

And the best part is that the total cost was a whopping $19!

In other news, our ward split yesterday. Our ward was up to 900+ people because of the housing boom in our area, and the construction for a new chapel hasn't been able to keep up with the families moving in. I told Brian before they announced the boundaries that we must be really good at being new because in the almost 4 years we've been married, the split would make our 5th ward. (Two were because we moved, and two would have been because of ward boundary changes). It was also fitting that we spoke in church two weeks ago and the rumors were that we'd be moved into the new ward they were creating, and would probably be top of the list to speak in church again.

Anyway, so they announced the new boundaries yesterday and just like the boundary change in Hawaii, we are the little section of our neighborhood that is plucked out from the rest of the neighborhood! Luckily, we will stay in our current ward, but it's kinda funny that we live in Providence, but are not in the Providence ward.

The Church is still true, but it will be nice to not have to fight for a soft seat in Sacrament mtg every Sunday (we have sacrament last so it's really a free for all)! Last Sunday I heard someone walking from behind me talking about how she has to run to beat all the old and pregnant ladies for a soft seat!
