So we finally moved into the house we bought, and with that big change brought Jayden a new bedroom! With baby brother on the way, we decided this would be as good of a time as any to move him to a toddler bed, so we got his room all done first so it would be a surprise when we moved. We painted, I made curtains, my mom bought him a Toy Story blanket, and we bought Toy Story wall stickers (which is why we only painted one wall-the stickers look way better on a white wall).
Here are some pics of Jayden's new room, and favorite place to be-besides outside, of course!
Brian and I absolutely LOVE having his toys in his room and not all over the kitchen and living room, so I think we are all in heaven.
And here is a picture I took of him through the blinds. I just had to see if he was sleeping, but I didn't want to open his door. It needs some serious WD-40. ;)
At first he made the transition perfectly! He hasn't fallen out or anything like that. He didn't fight us at all for the first four days, and we continued our usual routine of reading, saying a prayer, and then kissing night-night, leaving the room and he would fall asleep on his own. He even fell asleep to the construction workers jackhammering next door, which I thought was marvelous (yes, they are building a house RIGHT next door, and are obnoxiously loud and keep blocking my driveway with their trucks!!)
Then, yesterday he finally realized he can get out of this bed whenever he wants, and instead of staying in bed and falling asleep, he would get up and play with his toys. Then after I said no toys, the next time I heard him up and about he was getting books! While I love that he loves books, what a little stinker! He's just like his daddy, finding a way around the rules!
So after a few heart to heart chats...I finally ended up sitting in a chair just outside his open door until he fell asleep. Any suggestions on how to help with this transition to toddler bed/getting out of bed to play with his toys problem? Isn't this what Supernanny suggests, sitting in a chair, talking as little as possible, until they fall asleep?
p.s. I take it back. The night after I posted this, he fell out of bed three times. Isn't it weird that he went four days without falling out at all and all of a sudden he keeps falling out? We are one tired household this morning...

Love his room. Jace loves Toy Story too, actually, loves is an understatement. He is Obsessed. Love the picture of him sleeping!
that is a tough transition and i think you just have to keep being consistent, telling him it's time to stay in bed, you can always get one of those rail, mesh things that goes on, then your just building a crib:) i am sure he will get used to it. it's been too long to remember how we did that!
